Adhesives

  • Child-friendly, non-toxic, fume-free PVA glue for indoor mosaic projects on porous surfaces such as: wood; MDF; terracotta; as well as diluted for sealing porous surfaces.
  • Transparent polyurethane glue for glass on glass work without fumes and slower drying time than silicon based adhesives. Flexible and weather resistant with no vertical slippage.
  • Adesilex P10 (download data sheet) from Mapei for larger glass mosaic projects indoors and outdoors. Combine with Isolastic (download data sheet) for wet areas such as bathrooms or swimming pools. May be applied over existing tile work.
  • Keraquick (download data sheet) from Mapei for use on wood and for quicker setting time, combined with Latex Plus (download data sheet) to meet the S2 EU standard for deformability.

How much do you need? For 2x2 mosaics with a thickness of about 4mm we suggest that you use about 1.5kg per sq metre for an even flat surface. For uneven surfaces or areas where the mosaic needs to be padded out you will require more than this. For applying mosaics over existing tiles (which should be totally clean and not loosened) an initial thin coat of Adesilex P10 should be applied with the second bedding coat applied within 24 hours.
Please note: The datasheets/suggestions can only give an indication of the amount of adhesive you might need..
